PEBBLE BEACH, California (Aug. 14, 2009) - The future. It’s difficult to anticipate, much less see. But with the virtual debut of the all new 2011 M at the 59th Annual Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance, Infiniti has done the impossible – let us see into the future.
Through a unique video mapping process, a “virtual M” was created on a 3D form and revealed to assembled guests at the Concours. There was no physical vehicle present, only the virtual model – a first for this cutting edge technology, and a milestone for the automotive industry and Infiniti.
Now in its third generation, the 2011 Infiniti M is a completely redesigned and reengineered automobile. Offered with more powerful, higher displacement V8 and V6 engines, it will be designated the Infiniti M56 or Infiniti M37. For Western Europe, the M56 will be replaced by a V6 performance diesel. Despite improved performance from the new engine line-up, fuel consumption will be reduced.
For 2011, M’s sculpted body is highlighted by deep, muscular fenders inspired by the Infiniti Essence concept car. Authentic sports sedan proportions flow from a low front end through a graceful, sweeping profile, and on into prominent but subdued taillights and a confident rear stance. On the inside, the M is pure Infiniti: innovative materials, advanced climate control, superior audio and ambient quality.
Continuing Infiniti’s safety innovation leadership, the 2011 Infiniti M will be equipped with an industry-first blind-spot intervention system. The system is designed to help alert the driver if another vehicle is detected in an adjacent lane during an intended lane change and then helps assist the driver in returning the vehicle to the center of the original lane of travel.
The 2011 Infiniti M will make its official public debut later this year and is scheduled to go on sale across all of Infiniti’s 32 markets around the world, including Western Europe starting in Spring 2010.
