Infiniti

an expressive brushstroke

evoking power and emotion

the inspiration behind every design

Emotion comes from bold lines

Each vehicle we create starts with a bold gesture. The Infiniti Gesture. It not only inspires the design, it captures the essential character of each vehicle in powerfully rendered lines. Dynamic, fluid, bold, they reflect the handcrafted artistry of the Japanese calligraphy called Shodo with which our designers give shape to inspired ideas.

G Convertible

Liberation in a brushstroke, the essence of the G Convertible is captured by the bold center line that represents the rush of performance, balanced nicely by the gentle curve of the roof which directs the eye into an open sky and limitless possibilities.

G Coupe

Captured in the sensuous flow of the horizontal line you find the sculpted, seductive shapes of the G Coupe. Its weight and energy, evident in the speed with which it is drawn, reflects the vehicle's strong performance promise.

G Sedan

The horizontal beltline of the G Sedan gesture finishes with a dynamic downward curve, to emphasize rear-wheel-drive performance. The gentle flow of the roofline represents the fluid shapes of the body.

M

The thickness of stroke at the front of the M gesture indicates power, while the long cabin represents its refined spaciousness. A balance of performance and richness that is the essence of the M.

EX

The mixture of dynamic lines and passionate flow represents the essence of the EX Concept. Its proportion echoes its crossover architecture, and its curves capture the expressiveness of coupe inspiration.

FX

Infiniti's most impressionistic gesture to represent the boldness of the FX's concept: an SUV with the character of a sportscar. The horizontal stroke is heavy, straight, and drawn with great speed, as if racing to the horizon. Its roofline is drawn only slightly more deliberately, low and rakish, to reflect the FX's unconventional, canopy-like roofline.

QX

To draw attention to the size and stature of the QX, its gesture bends and flows over the open negative space in the middle. It highlights the strong grille and long roofline, reflecting the energy and fluidity of its design.

The inspiration of

Shodo

Shodo is the Japanese traditional art of writing with brush and ink on a parchment paper. Literally translated, it means "the way of writing". At its most advanced impressionistic, Shodo is used by artists to add substance and feeling to a message or idea. Each brushstroke has a unique flow and energy that transcends the translation of the character being written by incorporating the artist's own personal vision and expression.

Infiniti uses this expressive artistry to give a richer character and depth to our vehicles. It is an important part of our design heritage and commitment to craftmanship.
